Anyone who has heard the phrase, “Winter is coming,” should get a tad bit worried about continuing their fitness regimen.
If you’re not a Game of Thrones fan, forget the reference. And anyway, winter is here!
There might not be enough daylight and enough heat to get you to head to the gym, or go for a run outside, but don’t fret. There are a number of things that you can do to keep those muscles pumping and get your beach bod ready for summer.
Here are some tips on how to still be physically active during the winter:
Combat Clothing
Embrace the cold and engage in winter physical activities. Who says you can’t ski or skate? Just be in full winter gear, protect yourself from the cold, and you’re good to go.
Yoga? Pilates, Anyone?
Just pick up a mat and turn on some yoga or pilates videos, and you can do the routine at home. Or if you want it to be more challenging, head on over to a gym that has yoga or Pilates classes. It’s great doing it with others and you’ll look great doing it.
Routine? What routine?
Shake things up this winter, instead of doing your usual cardio run outside, try to do weights, or an intensive workout inside. There are a lot of indoor routines that you can do from the comfort of your home. Imagine, you won’t have to drive or head to the gym after work and shower right at home.
It’s Always Best When Done in Pairs
When you’re doing your workout alone, you will find that the winter mood will drag you down and there won’t be anyone to convince you otherwise. So choose a workout partner that will be there to help motivate you.
Don’t Let the Winter Blues Get to You!
Remember that having a positive attitude about staying physically fit and active in the winter is as important. You’ll be surprised that your metabolism gets faster in the winter to keep you warm, so it’s actually a great time to lose some weight.
